Sunday, May 13th, 2007 - Knights of Columbus Breakfast  - The Knights of Columbus will be serving breakfast after the 8 AM and 10 AM Masses. Come join us for pancakes, French toast, sausage, bacon, hash brown potatoes, scrambled eggs and biscuits prepared by our own nearly world famous Chef Eddie. The cost is $5 for adults, $4 for seniors and $3 for children. Even if you are not interested in eating, come to visit with old friends and to make new friends in your parish family.

Monday, May 14th, 2007 - Ulster Project Night at Buck N' Loons (3517 S. Cooper Street) - 11am to 10pm - Come and see good friends and enjoy a great meal. A portion of your meal cost will be donated to the Ulster Project - Arlington.

Saturday, May 19th, 2007 - University of Dallas Biblical School Graduation - noon - Members of our parish have completed a 4 year study of the entire bible and are part of the first graduating class of the Fort Worth Diocese. Please join them for this ceremony at the Maher Athletic Center on the campus of the University of Dallas in Irving (1845 Northgate Drive, Irving,TX 75062). Bishop Vann will celebrate Mass and present Advanced Biblical School Certificates to 103 graduates in the Ft. Worth and Dallas Dioceses. A reception follows. Saturday/Sunday - June 9/10, 2007 - Cursillo Raffle - Come by after Mass in front of the Family Life Center to help support the Cursillo's annual fundraiser. Raffle tickets will be sold for some very different prizes this year including furniture, computer and a plasma TV. The price is the same: $5.00 each or 6 for $25.00. Please look for them and hear about their plans for a Return Ultreya at MBS on June 23rd.

July 1st, 2007 - Combined Choir Concert at First United Methodist Church - 4 PM - Everyone was invited to a special combination of members of Most Blessed Sacrament Church Adult Choir and Orchestra with the choirs of Trinity Baptist and First United Methodist churches at First United Methodist church located at 313 North Center Street (76011) . July 6th-8th, 2007 - Diocesan Catholic Youth Conference 2007 (DCYC) -   Everyone in grades 7 through 12 were invited to this dynamic weekend including keynote presentations from nationally known speakers, workshops where youth learned to deepen their faith and learn life skills, music, hands on activities, games, service experiences, and much more. This year's theme was "Catholic to the CORE". The cost for the weekend was $110.00 which included hotel, some meals and a conference T-Shirt.  Check out the DCYC LINK .

 

July 13-15,2007 - Vocational Awareness Program at Holy Trinity Seminary

     If you are looking (or know someone who is looking) for a way to spend your life providing service to others... If you are single, 18-40 years of age and have an interest in learning about the ministry as a priest, brother or sister, you are invited to join a group of other men and women seeking similar answers at weekend of talks, panel discussions, consultations and prayer conducted by a professional religious staff at Holy Trinity Seminary, July 13-15, 2007.  There is no charge.  Pre-registration required.

Sunday,  August 5, 2007 - School Supplies Needed   The Community Service Committee is having its annual drive. The committee supports six local schools and requests your help in providing school supplies for children in need.  Please bring your donations on the weekends of July 22 and 29 and August 5, and place them in the boxes provided at the church entrances.  Items needed are:

Camp Fort Worth @ St. George Parish in Fort Worth - When: August 5-10, 2007                Where: St. George Catholic Church                                                                                               How Much: $75                                                                                                                                  Who can attend: Incoming 10th grader thru Graduated Senior                                      Registration Deadline: Friday, July 20th or until spaces filled                                  Camp Ft. Worth is a mission trip/summer camp/retreat experience     What exactly is it: Each participant will be placed in group of about 12 youth and adults. Each group will travel to a different work site each day. The sites will be things like: Salvation Army, workshop making baby cribs, Community Center (working with children), nursing home, and the “home” church site (doing odd jobs).

Showers - Since the place we stay may not be equipped with shower facilities for a group our size we will shower in the afternoon after working either at a school, the Y.M.C.A. or at a shelter.

Meals - Every parish/school that sends a group must provide either a breakfast or a dinner so be sure and call to volunteer your help. We do this so the camp experience goes beyond the students and to keep the cost of camp down Lunch will be provided by Camp Ft. Worth

Sunday, August 19th, 2007-  Catholic Scripture Study Registration  - This year we will be study Acts of the Apostles. The classes are on Wednesday evenings, 7:30 pm to 9:00pm, and Thursday mornings, 9:45am to 11:15am, from the second week of September through the last week of April. Monday, August 20th, 2007 - Partners In Ministry signup deadline - Partners in Ministry is coming to St. Joseph's in Arlington! Over 2000 people in the Fort Worth Diocese have completed this program which began as the Lay Ministers Program. Facilitated by Sisters Kay Kolb and Pat Miller, SSND, over the years, it will be co-facilitated by Ray and Christy Szempruch as a pilot program this year. PIM will be offered on a weekly basis for two hours each Thursday. Partners in Ministry is a program in and for those choosing to deepen their faith and spirituality in the workplace, the home, and their everyday lives. Areas of reflection and study include Scripture, Vatican Council II, and Today's Theological Writings (from pertinent books and articles for discussion about discipleship within and beyond the Church). Sessions will be from 7 to 9 PM Thursdays beginning September 6 through December 6; continuing January 24 through April 3, 2008, culminating in the annual Glen Rose Retreat April 25-26. \Saturday, August 25, 2007 - Cub Scouts Information Night  7:00 pm - St. Maria Goretti (1200 S. Davis Drive) - Any boys interested in joining the Cub Scouts, now is the time to find out what it's all about. In Cub Scouts, we will help build boy's characters through crafts, games, camping, public service projects and more. This will be a good time to hear more about  Cub Scouts. Sunday, September 16, 2007 -  Mother-Daughter Tea - Noon to 4 PM -  Catholic Center presented by the Family Life Office. Girls, ages 10-13, are invited to come with  their mother, grandmother, or special woman in their lives to spend an afternoon sharing experiences and the satisfaction of being female, as well as the special gifts and qualities we have received from our Creator to function in this role. This session will explain the physical, emotional and psychological changes that occur in becoming a woman from a faith perspective. Tea and other refreshments will be served as a light lunch.

Our Knights of Columbus Council 9299 is hosting our semi-annual Family Game Night this Friday night October 12th in the Parish Hall at Saint Mary the Virgin (1408 N.Davis Drive, Arlington TX 76012) starting at 7PM. You and your family are invited. Please let me know if you'll be able to join us for this fun activity that will include games for both the kids and the adults. The Council will supply the beverages. Just plan on coming down for an enjoyable evening. You can bring a munchie to share if you want to but it's not required. Video Games, Battleship, Uno, Go Fish, Sorry, Tumbling Tower (Jenga) for the kids, or bring your child's favorite game with you. Texas Hold Em, Beyond Balderdash, Outburst, Scrabble, Trivial Pursuit for the adults, or bring your favorite game with you.

Sunday, October 21, 2007 - Flag Football program registration deadline- Calling all youth (grades 7 and up) and adults to join us for a season of flag football. The games will be held on Wednesday nights. Registration is ongoing until October 21 and games will begin on Nov. 7. We will have playoffs and our own Super Bowl. So take a moment to say "Thanks." We at Most Blessed Sacrament are so very blessed to have Father Joe as our pastor and friend.

Food and Music are provided free of charge by the owners of the Plaza Pub.

This is Jesse Casselman's Girl Scout Gold Award Project - an "Empty Bowl" Project raising awareness of hunger in North Texas. Saturday, December 8, 2007 - Annual Children's Christmas Party - 10AM to 1:00 PM -  The MBS Community Service Committee has invited over 200 needy kindergarten to 6th grade students from nearby grade schools, along with their parents, to attend this event, provided by the generosity of the MBS parishioners. Guests are entertained by a DJ, the Baron, Miss Persis troupe of performers, face painters, balloon makers, clowns, and a visitor from the North Pole. Pizza will be served along with homemade cookies and ice cream. Parishioners are asked to provide new, unwrapped toys for boys and girls ages kindergarten to 6th grade/age 12. Please be mindful of the recent recalls when selecting toys. Collection boxes for the toys are at the side doors of the church. Toys will be graciously accepted until noon on Thursday, December 6. The Community Service Committee THANKS YOU for all your help!!

 

Saturday, December 8 and Sunday, December 9, 2007 - Adult Choir Bake Sale - Please stop by the Parish Hall after all Masses for the Adult Choir Bake Sale. There will be THREE RAFFLES for some great Christmas gifts. 1. A Scrapbook Supplies Raffle, 2. A Gift-Wrapping Supply Raffle and 3. A Tailgate Party Supply Raffle.  We will also have handmade wooden snowmen available for sale compliments of Richard Lenz. We are adding recipes to our MBS Cookbook. All recipes MUST BE TYPED. Deadline for recipes is October 21. Cookbooks will be on sale December 8 and 9 at the Bake Sale. Help to double the size of our cookbook! The proceeds from the bake sale benefit the Christmas Concert Orchestra.

This is a group that has a contact center here in Arlington and they help those children who are in foster care or are in need of foster care. .   •    Nuestro Hogar - a special residential community in central Arlington that our Community Service Committee helps every year. Wednesday, December 19, 2007 - Most Blessed Sacrament Youth Center and Family Life Center - Join us for our 4th annual Youth Christmas Party - 6:00 - 8:00 PM. Bring a wrapped gift with a cost limit of $5.00. We will have FOOD, drinks, fun, games, activities and a Gift Exchange.

 

Saturday, December 22nd - Youth Babysitting Service for families with young children - We are also needing adults to help chaperone as well.  I think we have it covered for tomorrow (Friday, December 14th) but we are still lacking both youth and
adults for Sat., Dec, 22nd.  Please let me know if you can help on this day.
The schedule for Dec. 22nd is from 10am - 3pm.  A suggested donation of $30
per child or $50 per family (this is a change from the flyer which states
$40 per child). Finally, if you know of any families who have kids for us to baby-sit,
please send them our way.  Flyers can be picked up on the Youth Bulletin

460-2751.  The more kids we have the more money we can raise.  All funds

As we journey through life sometimes we ask ourselves, " How strong is my faith? How healthy is my spirituality?" Saturday, February 2-Sunday, February 3, 2008- Missionary Appeal:  This weekend, February 2nd and 3rd, Father Bob Thames will be with us to speak to the parish about his missionary labors in Bolivia.  Father Bob is a priest of our Diocese of Fort Worth who has worked in the missions of Mexico and Bolivia for many years.  Many of the parishes of his home diocese, including Most Blessed Sacrament, have generously helped in the support of his mission needs.  Pray for this important mission outreach of our parish and for Father Bob Thames.  A big THANK YOU from Father Joe for your interest and support of this work of the Gospel.

  • Knights Distribute $1 Million Worth of Wheelchairs to Veterans                                                    Hundreds of people attended the distribution of wheelchairs for use by veterans in North Texas, Washington, D.C., Chicago and Los Angeles. Supreme Knight Carl Anderson spoke at the event in Washington, D.C. In all, 2,000 wheelchairs – with a total value of $1 million – were donated by the Knights of Columbus Nov. 9-10 to veterans, with 500 each going to veterans in each of the four locations. 

  • Thanks to the efforts of the St. Bernadette's Guild and parishioners who participated in the raffle at the recent Bazaar and Bake Sale, $ 1000 was raised for Deacon Jim's medical expenses. Thanks to all who participated.

  • The Knights of Columbus contributed $100,000 toward the production of an extraordinary musical event on public television stations throughout the United States. The new PBS special, The Birth of Christ", prominently includes the professional efforts of two individual Knights. Check the Birth of Christ website for showings in San Antonio and other parts of Texas. Unfortunately, PBS is not carrying it in the DFW market.

  • Socks, Underwear, & T-shirt drive - The Community Service Committee is having its annual drive for socks and underwear.  Please note that teachers have expressed a need for plain, white t-shirts also.  Please drop off your donations, through the month of February, in the wooden boxes located inside the North Doors of the church after Mass, or in the church office during the week.  Thank you for your support.

Lynch. This the story of Jesus' passion and death, told from the point of view of Mary, his sorrowful mother. Sunday - April 13-  Parent/Family Child Abuse Prevention Workshop - April is "Child Abuse Prevention Month for the Fort Worth Diocese - Most Blessed Sacrament will be having an orientation in classroom #9 - 11:15 AM to 12:30 PM - We will conduct Child Self Protection training for children, ages Pre-K through high school, during their regularly scheduled Faith Formation class times. The Parent Family Workshop in Classroom #9 will teach parents and families what they need to know to help prevent child sexual abuse.

HELP IS NEEDED FOR CATHOLIC CHARITIES OUTREACH - Now until June 19.- Sponsored by the Diocese of Fort Worth- From the Parish Relations Coordinator of the Diocese of Fort Worth for Catholic Charities, Laura Sotelo, requests " The need of diapers/baby items (wipes, lotion, baby bath soap, car seats, strollers) is an ongoing need that we have in many of our programs, and I think this might be a way for parish youth ministry groups to partner with Catholic Charities, so that we can serve more of our families."  Adults are welcomed to help as well. The baby items may be brought to the parish office. The need is ongoing, but the current drive ends June 19. Thank you for your generosity.

September 6/7, Saturday/Sunday , 2008 - Festival of Ministries -  Join us in the Family Life Center and Parish Hall after any mass this weekend to see everything Most Blessed Sacrament has to offer. We have over 65 active organizations at our parish that would like to have YOU involved in fun, family and faith. Raffle tickets for two Southwest Airlines Round Trip Tickets to anywhere Southwest flies will be available for purchase. Raffle tickets will be available at the Festival of Ministries and the picnic and the winner will be announced at the Parish Picnic October 12. Tickets will be $ 1 each or 6 for $ 5. Table displays  of every group that enters will be automatically entered into a contest for their presentation of information and creativity of their Ministry. ALL Parish Organizations that would like to be represented at the Festival, please fill out the entry form at the Festival of Ministries link or watch for bulletin notices. Registration forms should be dropped off at the Parish Office or mailed to Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 2100 N. Davis Drive, Arlington, TX 76012 (Attn. Michele Grim) by August 23, 2008. Help is needed for table and chair set up. This is a very large event that could not be done without the help of many volunteers to set up the tables. Sunday  September 14, 2008-  Knights of Columbus Youth Soccer Challenge -

All boys and girls ages 10 to 14 are invited and encouraged to participate in the 2008 Knights of Columbus Soccer Challenge.  The competition involves penalty kicks with designated scoring zones based on accuracy. The event will be held on Sunday, Sept 14th, 2008 at 2 p.m. at the J.W. Dunlop Sports Center soccer field, 1500 NW Green Oaks Blvd (NW Green Oaks Blvd and N. Fielder Rd.). 

 Winners will progress through local, district and state competitions.  All boys and girls will participate in their respective age divisions (age as of September 1st, 2008).  All contestants will be recognized for their participation in the event. Sunday,October 12,2008- Most Blessed Sacrament Parish Picnic - THE "Old Fashioned Parish Picnic" IS BACK ! The Parish Picnic will be held on Sunday, October 12, 2008 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM.  We are planning to have a Bar-B-Q of hamburgers and hot dogs with sides and all the fixins including ice cream for dessert. Please bring a lawn chair or blanket if you would like to sit outside on the back lawn.  Everyone is invited and encouraged to enter our free Cookie Bake -Off Contest by bringing in 2 dozen of their favorite homemade cookies for all to share. On Sunday, October 26,  2008, middle school and high school youth, along with their families, will come together to celebrate World Youth Day at Six Flags over Texas. The main celebrants will be Bishop Kevin Vann of Fort Worth and Bishop Kevin Farrell of Dallas. There will be food, fun, exhibits and exciting rides, along with performances by local Christian bands at the Music Mill Amphitheatre inside Six Flags.

 Knights of Columbus Council #9299 invites you and your family to their Charity Golf Tournament - 2:00 PM Shotgun start, Four Person Florida Scramble at Chester A. Ditto Golf Course. Signups for the Tournament
will take place at Most Blessed Sacrament in the parish hall after each of the
masses this weekend. Fee is $70 per player which may be paid now or later on. Proceeds benefit K of C charities including Seminarians, Deaf Ministries, National Wheelchair
Foundation, and Loyola University Pastoral Studies Program.
Non Golfers (male and female) are also needed to volunteer to help with registration, goodie bag distribution, most fashionable golfer judging, and monitoring of the longest drive, hole in one and closest to the pin holes. Sunday, November 9, 2008- MBS Families Build-A-Bear Workshop - Parks Mall- 4:30 PM  -  The MBS Families will be building bears for the Community Service Group to give away as raffle prizes at the annual MBS Christmas party for the under privileged children.  Each child (and adults are welcomed to build one too!) will build a bear of his or her choice and clothe it.  (The basic bear is $10 and the clothes are $10-15.) We will get a 10% discount on our purchase. Sunday, November 23,  2008 - Knights of Columbus Bowl-a-Thon - Bowlathon Pledge Sheets will be available at Most Blessed Sacrament on Sunday for anyone that wants to make a pledge. You may pay this Sunday or anytime before December 14th. All money raised goes to Knights of Columbus Texas State Charities for our Annual State Charities Goal with 70% coming back to Bishop Vann for Seminarian Support and Deaf Ministries here in the Fort Worth Diocese and the other 30% staying with the State Charities Board to help the needy and victims of disasters such as Hurricane Ike. Wednesday, December 10th, 2008- St. Cecilia's Guild Christmas Party - Our Christmas Party will be held at the clubhouse at Randol Mill Garden Homes, 1620 Oakwood Lane (clubhouse is directly across street). The Guild will provide meats and rolls and members are asked to bring an appetizer, finger food, or dessert. Be sure to bring your gift for the Exchange Game - and if you like, you can bring your favorite slippers to wear! 

Saturday, December 13th, 2008 - Children's Christmas Party - 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM - The MBS Community Service Committee has invited over 200 needy kindergarten to 6th grade students from nearby grade schools every year, along with their parents, to attend this event, provided by the generosity of the MBS parishioners. Guests have been entertained in past years by a DJ, the Baron, Miss Persis troupe of performers, face painters, balloon makers, clowns, and a visitor from the North Pole. Pizza will be served along with homemade cookies and ice cream. Parishioners are asked to provide new, unwrapped toys for boys and girls ages kindergarten to 6th grade/age 12. Collection boxes for the toys will be at the side doors of the church. Toys will be graciously accepted until noon on Thursday, December 11. The Community Service Committee THANKS YOU for all your help!!

 

Saturday, December 13th - Knights of Columbus Council 9299 Christmas Party - 6PM at Most Blessed Sacrament Parish Hall for Members, their families, friends and guests - all are welcome. There will be a Chinese Gift Exchange following dinner (price limit for gifts is $15.00). Attendees should bring one exchange gift for each family member participating in the exchange. The Council will provide the meat dish and beverages for dinner. Attendees should  bring a salad, casserole, or vegetable side dish to share with the group.

Sunday, December 21, 2008 - Most Blessed Sacrament Christmas Concert - 7 PM Mark your calendar for this very special event, Our concert is produced by our very own Music Department and led by our Music Director, Michele Grim. Join us for the musical cantata, "The Wonder of Christmas."  Santa is even scheduled to be there for one of the songs with candy canes. Hope he can make it with his busy schedule this time of year.  We are very blessed at our parish to have very talented vocalists and musicians and they will be accompanied by our visiting professional orchestra composed of about 40 different musicians of strings and woodwind instrumentalists and our very own Bell Choir. Habitat for Humanity Building Opportunity - Saturday, January 17, 2009 - Fort Worth Diocese Catholic House - Join us for this opportunity to help Habitat for Humanity build a house in the Fort Worth area. Sunday, January 25, 2009 - Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship - All boys and girls ages 10 to 14 are invited and encouraged to participate in the 2009 Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship.  The competition involves shooting basketball free throws from a foul line.

Winners will progress through local, district and state competitions. All boys and girls will participate in their respective age divisions. All contestants will be recognized for their participation in the event. Winners of each age category will be recognized and progress to the district competition. Participants may be required to provide proof of age and written parental consent, which is available at registration. Sunday, February 1, 2009 - Nationwide Battle against Hunger - After all Masses this weekend -  Join our parish community in the fun and excitement of Super Bowl Sunday. The MBS Youth Group would like to invite everyone to bring a dollar to church this weekend and help feed the hungry. This effort was started in 1989 by the youth group of Spring Valley Presbyterian Church in Columbia, S.C. It has since become a national effort raising more than $50 million dollars to battle hunger. All funds collected by our Youth will go to Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Fort Worth for this purpose. We hope you will plan to be part of this years effort to share God's love with those who need our compassion and care. Thank you for your generosity !

Good Friday, April 10, 2009 - Rosary Vigil for Life - Planned Parenthood Abortion Center (301 South Henderson, Fort Worth - 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM - Catholics United for Life and Mother & Unborn Care will hold their 24th Annual Rosary Vigil for Life so that we can raise our voices in humble supplication to Almighty God on behalf of all our precious pre-born brothers and sisters who die by abortion before they ever see the light and love of this world.

Sunday, April 12th, 2009 - Easter Egg Hunt - Join the MBS Families for the Annual Easter Egg Hunt this Sunday after the 10:00 am and 11:30 am masses. The MBS Families group is "EGGCITED"  to be hosting our annual Easter Egg Hunt. We are asking for individually wrapped candy (no chocolate, please), small trinkets as well as empty plastic egg donations.  If bad weather strikes, we will have the hunt inside the building in specially designated classrooms.

Saturday, April 25th, 2009 - Global Youth Service Day (GYSD)- Randol Mill Park - 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM -  Each year the Arlington Alliance for Youth sponsors a Global Youth Service Day where youth from around the area do service work for their communities. Last year, MBS youth and adults helped beautify Veteran's Park by removing weeds in the areas where wildflowers grow. This year, in collaboration with several Catholic churches in the Arlington area, we would like to help beautify Randol Mill Park (1934 W. Randol Mill Rd.) by planting sod around the pond. Thursday, May 7th, 2009 - Youth Confirmation & Reception - 7:00 PM  -  Come Celebrate with Us ! - You, our parish family, are specially invited to attend and share in the joy of our 31 youth candidates, who will be sealed with the Holy Spirit as they celebrate the sacrament of Confirmation at a special evening Mass at Most Blessed Sacrament. In the 50th Year of his priesthood, and with the special approval of Bishop Kevin Vann, our Pastor, Monsignor Joe, will confer the sacrament on our young people this year. As our youth reach this critical point of full sacramental initiation, and continue their faith journeys with the strengthening of the Spirit, may we fully support them, and remember them frequently in our prayers. A reception will follow the liturgy in the Parish Hall, to which everyone is invited.

Sunday, May 18th, 2009 -  MBS Young Adults Group Forming-  MBS Young Adults want to gather married and single adults in their 20's and 30's who are interested in forming a Young Adults community. We are all about having fun, and meeting new people. Some planned events include baseball games, BBQs, volleyball and much more! Sunday, August 9th, 2009 -  Diocese of Fort Worth will celebrate its 40th Anniversary at a special diocesan Mass at 3 PM at the Fort Worth Convention Center Arena. Bishop Kevin Vann will preside. Following the liturgy, the Diocese will host a special reception in the Ballroom at the Convention Center. Everyone is invited to attend. The committee supports six local schools and requests your help in providing school supplies for children in need.  This is the last weekend to donate supplies for this school year. Monday, August 24, 2009-Catholic Scripture Study International Registration Deadline - Catholic Scripture Study (CSS) is an in-depth yet easy to understand study that is written in light of Catholic Tradition.  It offers solid scripture teaching that is easy for beginners to understand, yet informative and challenging enough for the more advanced Bible student.  This is the fourth year that CSS  is offered at our parish.  However, no previous Bible Study experience is necessary in order to enjoy these classes!  Saturday/Sunday, August 29/30, 2009 - Festival of Ministries -  Be a part of CATS !!! - Catholics Acting Together !!! Join us in the Family Life Center and Parish Hall after any mass this weekend to see everything Most Blessed Sacrament has to offer.  Raffle tickets for two Southwest Airlines Round Trip Tickets to anywhere Southwest flies will be available for purchase at the Picnic Table. Raffle tickets will be available at the Festival of Ministries and the picnic and the winner will be announced at the Parish Picnic October 18. Tickets will be $ 1 each or 6 for $ 5. Table displays  of every group that has a display at the Festival of Ministries will be automatically entered into a contest for their presentation of information and creativity of their Ministry. We have over 65 active organizations at our parish that would like to have YOU involved in fun, family and faith.
