Remember Monthly PANTRY SUNDAY Weekend - September 4/5 , 2010 !The Community Service Committee is holding it's Pantry Sunday this weekend and every first weekend of every month. A suggested donation of ONE can per family be donated and placed in the collection boxes at church. Needed most are Canned meats, peanut butter and jelly, macaroni and cheese, dried pasta, rice, beans, pork and beans, canned/boxed pasta meals, spaghetti sauce, soups, canned fruits and vegetables. Please, no EXTRA LARGE cans. Thank you for helping feed the hungry.

Catholic Scripture Study - Book of Exodus - Begins September 9 and 13, 2010

This year (2010-2011) we will offer a 28-week study of The Book of Exodus on Monday evenings from 7:00pm - 8:30pm and on Thursday mornings from 9:45am - 11:30am.  The evening class will start Monday, September 13, 2010 and the morning class will begin Thursday, September 9, 2010. (However, materials will be handed out at introductory classes on Monday, August 30 and on Thursday, September 2.) We study one lesson per week ending the last week of April, and we take breaks for Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter and Spring Break. Registration forms are available in the Parish Office.  Register by August 24 in order to have the materials in time for the first class.  Late registrations will be accepted. Sunday, September 12, 2010,  - Knights of Columbus Blood Drive  - The Knights of Columbus along with Carter Blood Care is sponsoring a blood drive on Sunday Sept. 12th from 9am to 1pm.  The blood drive will be held in the Family Life Center.  All donors will receive a free breakfast compliments of the Knights.  Carter asks that donors bring a picture id. Sunday, September 12, 2010,  - Knights of Columbus Breakfast  - The Knights of Columbus will be serving breakfast after the 8:00 am and 10:00 am Masses this Sunday. There will be pancakes, French toast, sausage, bacon, hash brown potatoes, scrambled eggs and biscuits prepared by our own nearly world famous Chef Eddie. The cost ... $5 for adults, $4 for seniors and $3 for children. Even if you are not interested in eating, come to visit with old friends and to make new friends in your parish family.

RCIA starts September 14, at 7pm Adult Education Room

 The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is ultimately about adult conversion and faith formation in a welcoming community. If you wish to become Catholic, or you know someone who does, or you want to serve as a sponsor or team member, call Beverly Corzine at 817-460-2751. Children go through all of the same rites as an adult, and are recognized as part of the Elect at the Call to the Easter Sacraments (a diocesan gathering of the elect from a number of churches at one time). If you have a child who might benefit from the program, or if you would like to volunteer to help with this ministry, please contact Becky Lucas at 817/460-2751.

 

 Saturday/Sunday, September 18/19, 2010 - Why Catholic? Sign-up Sunday - Look for Sign-up cards in the pews and drop them in the offering basket or at the sign-up tables in front of the Parish Hall or entryway this weekend. You do not need to sign up again if you participated last year.  See October 3rd below for more information.

 

Saturday, September 25, 2010 - Bishop Vann's Annual Catholic Pro-Life Banquet - 5 PM - Hilton Hotel, 815 S. Main Street , Fort Worth -  This 6th Annual Banquet will be at the Historic Hilton Hotel in Fort Worth with keynote speaker Fr. Andrew Apostoli, C.F.R., Founding Member of the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal and Vice Postulator of the cause for the canonization of Archbishop Fulton Sheen. Check-in and Silent Auction begins at 5:00 pm and dinner will be served at 6:30 pm.
